Urban design
the process of designing and shaping cities, towns and villages - The following was done in ninth semester, 2008 – 2013 batch, B. Arch
students of Sathyabama University.
The batch being split into 7 groups of 10 each was
given the freedom to choose a region in or around the Chennai district for a
neighbourhood up to 10000 people and do an analytical study of the socio
economic state of the area, to identify and address those stresses that affect
the built environment and related natural systems that significantly contribute
to the deterioration in the quality of living of local communities. And eventually
come up with a detailed micro level solution, one that when adapted and
multiplied, feeds into the wider framework.
